Welcome to the Art of Go

This page is dedicated to my experiments in photo-realistic computer rendering of Go positions.

My original motivation was simply to create artwork which I could use for my Windows desktop. I hope you enjoy the artwork as much as I do.

Each of these images took about an hour to render with a ray tracer running on a 90 mhz Pentium. It should be possible to render scenes of this quality in real time on today's fast 3D hardware. That's a project for another day.
